This Week

Ohhhh man. This week. It has been quite the adjustment. School started on Monday. ALL of my kids are in school ALL day. It is so weird! I no longer have any little side-kicks running around on errands with me. I have nobody to strap into car seats or boosters. I have nobody asking me to make them lunch. No little voices calling for me, needing me, begging for me.

I remember when I had 4 little, tiny kids ages 4 and under. And then Magnus was born and there were 5! It was so hard. And so, so wonderful. I loved my house full of little kids. But I remember wondering what it would be like when they all got old enough to go to school and wondered what on earth I would do with all of that free time I would have.

Turns out I do a lot of cleaning, hahaha. I have been spending several hours each day this week deep cleaning my house. I am almost finished! This is the cleanest my house has been in years. It really needed it.

Plus, it's funny how when you have all these tiny kids at home and you see moms with older kids who are all in school and you're kind of jealous that they must be able to do all of these cool and fun things with their day because they don't have kids at home for 7 hours. But those 7 hours go by really quickly and I can never get nearly as much done as I used to think I would be able to. Crazy how that works.

And my life is about to get a little crazier again. I got a new job. A full-time, 40 hour a week, every day gig. This is definitely a first for me. I haven't had a job like this since having Laylah over 13 years ago. It is going to be a huge adjustment. This job kind of fell into my lap and it will be excellent experience to help me get into my master's program in a couple years. I feel like I should do it, so I am. I am able to go in early, and Andy will take the kids to school every day. I will be done in time to pick them up. But that means I am going to have to be super organized and super disciplined with school work. Ugh, it's going to be hard. But I think I can do it. I am up for the challenge.

All of my classes are online this semester. I will have to be careful not to get behind because I really need to keep my grades up for my program as well. I can do it. It's only 4 months. I can do anything for 4 months, right?! Haha, I always tell myself that.

Anyway, life has been different this week. Change is not my favorite, but I'm sure we will all adjust before I know it.

Happy first week of school!
