She Did It!

Well, after almost 2 years, I am happy to announce that Laylah can ride a 2-wheeler! She got her bike for her 4th birthday (with training wheels) and at the end of that summer, she wanted the training wheels off and wanted to learn to ride it without them. We tried and tried. She could never keep her balance.
Last summer, she was pretty content to just ride around with the training wheels. I think we took them off once or twice for a day to try and teach her, and she always wanted them back on. She would get so frustrated and then end up not caring.
Well, at the beginning of the warm weather, she decided she was going to do it; (actually, I decided for her. I knew she could do it!) we took off her training wheels and her bike sat.... and sat.... and sat. We practiced a few times, and she is SUCH an emotional child that she would end up in tears after about 5 minutes. Sometimes I would make her continue on and we'd keep practicing, but she'd eventually give up. On Saturday she begged Andy to put her training wheels back on and I told her no, we were going to go learn to ride that 2-wheeler. We were out there for about 10 minutes, and she had it down. I was so proud! Even though she is crying in these pictures, I know she is so happy to have finally learned to ride her 2-wheeler! Now I just need to get her to open her eyes and watch were she is going. I think she crashed into our neighbors fence about 5 times...

Yup- that fence... and no, she didn't make that dent in it, it was already there :)

And here's Daph on her scooter...

And Bear on his...

Don't ask me where Jonah was during all of this. I don't know half of the time....
